COCHON 555 FIFTH ANNIVERSARY TOUR HITS ATLANTA
THE BEST VALENTINES GIFT EVER - The pork spectacular is back!
The year 2013 marks a culinary milestone: The fifth anniversary of Cochon 555, the comes back to the hometown of Atlanta on Sunday, February 17, with an all-star line-up of chefs including Ryan Smith (Empire State South), Joseph Schafer (King and Duke), Eric Ottensmeyer (Leon’s Full Service), Whitney Otawka (Farm 255) and Guy Wong (Miso Izakaya). Each Cochon 555 event challenges the five local chefs to prepare a menu created from the entirety of one whole heritage breed pig for an audience of pork-loving epicureans and celebrated judges.
Guests will be treated to an epic pork feast alongside wines from five family-owned wineries (including Arcadian Winery, Barlow Vineyards, Chehalem, Syncline, and Quivira Vineyards plus special tastings from Vibrant Rioja and John at Hemisphere. In addition to the five pigs, “Winner of Heritage BBQ 2012” Todd Mussman and the team of Local 3 / Muss & Turners will roll out family meal – another whole pig cooked barbecue-style immediately preceding the awards. There will be a special pairing of Cypress Grove Chevre and Anchor Brewing. Everyone can commemorate the experience by visiting the City Eats photo booth and voting for the best bite of the day. Crispin Cider will be pouring as the Official Cider of the US Tour.
VIP guests will experience some of the new additions for 2013, including the launch of the cocktail competition called "Punch Kings" featuring Breckenridge Bourbon and six local bartenders including Kevin Bragg of 4th & Swift, Kellie Thorn of Empire State South, Arianne Fielder of Seven Lamps, Nate Shuman of Proof & Provisions, Ian Cox of Wrecking Bar, and Trip Sandifer of The Spence. Judges for Punch Kings include Brittany Chardin President of USBG Atlanta, Richard Tang of Blackstone, Eric Simpkins of The Lawerence, Sonia Chopra of Eater, Steve Grua of Cook Hall and Bryan Nolt of Breckenridge Distillery. Additionally, we roll out the all-new hand-cut Tartare Bar featuring Chad Clevenger from Alma Cocina, sustainable oysters from Rappahannock River and reserve wines from our friends at Hemisphere and as always, some tasty spirits.
To celebrate five years, Cochon is announcing five bourbons in addition to five family wineries and five chefs cooking five pigs. All attendees will get samples of Templeton Rye, Breckenridge Bourbon, High West, Buffalo Trace, and Four Roses in addition to the Perfect Manhattan Bar showcasing Eagle Rare, Luxardo and Antica Carpano. New to 2013 is also the Chupito Bar, a mezcal tasting experience featuring Ilegal, Mezcales de Leyenda, Fidencio, and Pierde Almas, cucumbers and smoked sea salts. The infamous Craft Cheese Bar sees a facelift when Taste Network, Atlanta Foods International, Tasia Malakasis of Belle Chevre, Emily Gs Jams, and Bella Cocina set up a sampling of amazing products from dairy luminaries including Cypress Grove Chevre, Vermont Butter & Cheese, Spring Brook Farms and the exclusive tasting of blues from Rogue Creamery. Guests can also stop by and taste favorites from Kerrygold. Don’t miss the special tasting with the team behind Southern Art’s Ham Bar as they slice their favorites.
The fun continues when Miyabi & Zwillings butcher demonstration with Rusty Bowers from Pine Street Market where everyone can buy raffle tickets to benefit the student volunteers of the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Full access includes ice-cold brews from Anchor, a Champagne toast, award ceremony, Fernet Branca digestifs and pork-spiked desserts. Of course the evening would not be complete without inviting everyone to the after party immediately following at Fandangles with $5.55 food and drink specials presented by Host Chef Marc Suennemann of Sheraton Atlanta.

COCHON 555 – five chefs, five pigs, five winemakers, five years! Do not miss it when this one-of-a-kind traveling culinary competition and tasting event comes home and marks a culinary milestone with its 5th Anniversary Tour. Created to promote a national conversation around the sustainable farming of heritage-breed pigs, each event challenges five local chefs to prepare a menu from the entirety of one 200 pound family-raised heritage breed of pig, nose-to-tail. Twenty judges (culinary luminaries) and 400 guests help decide the winning chef by voting on the "best bite of the day". The winner will be crowned the Prince of Porc and will compete at Grand Cochon event at the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen on Sunday, June 16.
New additions to the events in 2013 include the launch of an exciting cocktail competition called "Punch Kings" featuring Breckenridge Bourbon, prepared by [6] local bartenders, plus the new TarTare Bar round out the exclusive VIP hour. All attendees enjoy butcher demonstrations, sustainable oysters, creative pork dishes from all the chefs, a visit to the Manhattan Bar or new Chupito Bar featuring Mezcals, plus the infamous Cheese Bar saw bold enhancements, ice-cold brew from Anchor Brewing, pork-spiked desserts, cider and digestics will close out the evening.
The COCHON 555 event is 100% inclusive and always on Sunday.
